MASKED YASUKE: Vengeance is Not Enough

A Utopian child of war and slavery, no one really knows his true name. At an early age he was taken from his family and sold to the kingdom of Noria where dark skinned utopians were commonly used for inhumane entertainment. However, this Utopian boy had a destiny; and it was to be forged in the fires of the Norian Arena.

By the age of 20, he was the first Utopian to ever become the champion of the Norian Arena. This angered the ruling elite. To restore their image, the arrogant Norian’s staged an event that would ultimately end in the young champion’s death. Yet much to their dismay, the dark skinned gladiator came out victorious against impossible odds. 10 of Noria’s greatest swordsmen lay dead before the unarmed young master. The mob of spectators, inspired by his impossible feat, chanted “YASUKE! YASUKE! THE SHADOW OF DEATH!” The unnamed Utopian had his name.

Yasuke’s impossible victory caught the eye of the Grandmaster general, Commodus, of the Norian Army. Commodus knew that this gladiator was no ordinary man. He had to have him. Commodus offered Yasuke his freedom in return for his loyalty and sword in the war against Praetoria. However, Yasuke had no interest in the wars of men. The arena was his home and he was comfortable there. But one dream lingered. He wanted to find his family, his mother, his father and sister. So he offered Commodus his sword and loyalty, if he could reunite him with his family. Commodus agreed.

After some time, Commodus came to Yasuke with news…

“I found your family…” whispered Commodus.

“You have?! Where are they?!” Yasuke eagerly asked

Commodus responded solemnly, “I am not good with sentimentalities, so I will just say it. The Praetorian… they slaughtered and raped your family…I am sorry Yasuke. We have recovered their remains. Take whatever time you need to gather yourself. They shall pay for what they’ve done”.

Yasuke fell to his knees, the immortal warrior’s heart reeling from a mortal wound.

Years passed, and thousands of Praetorians fell before Yasuke’s blade in the ongoing wars. His rage was an unstoppable force with no immovable object to counter. One day… near the border of Utopia, a hooded man approached Yasuke. Before he could blink, Yasuke’s blade was at his throat.

“What do you want?” Yasuke asked annoyed by the intrusion,

The man’s voice shuddered “ I remember your eyes, they were kinder then…”

Yasuke stood confused, “Who the hell are you?”

“I am your uncle Nobitu, your father’s brother” the man responded

“You lie!! My family is all dead! Yasuke said angrily.

“Nearly, only you and I remain. My wife and children were slaughtered. I didn’t want to come, but I am here to fulfill a promise I made to your father… to give you something of great value to our family”. Replied Nobitu calmly…

“The Praetorian… they shall pay for this” Said Yasuke through grinding teeth.

Nobitu looked at the young warrior in disbelief, and would then utter the words that would change him forever…

“I…?, you….? Oh my god…Now I understand! I was so angry! so confused… I couldn’t understand why or how you could fight for them… my boy, Our families were slaughtered by Norian’s NOT Praetorians, it happened shortly after you were granted your freedom”.

Yasuke froze…, Nobitu’s words had literally pierced, petrified and shattered him with one blow. Nobitu, realizing that his nephew was no family traitor, reached to the side of his mule without hesitation, where he withdrew a Warmask and a sword.

“Yasuke, you have much to ponder and much to do, I must leave you now, but with you I leave two relics. This sword and Warmask belonged to our Ancestor, T’Challa. A legendary Utopian warrior, his soul is bound to these relics. Only our bloodline can wield the power they possess. Take them! and do what must be done!”.

Yasuke, glaring blankly into the horizon, whispered

“Thank you uncle….”

Nobitu firmly responded “Don’t thank me! Tell me what you will do?”

Yasuke took a deep breath. He holstered T’Challa’s sword and put on his Warmask.

He stared into his Uncle’s eyes and quietly said…

“Is it not obvious?? …. I will destroy everything and everyone they hold dear”

In-game Role

Masked Yasuke is a versatile sword fighter. He has incredible dueling capabilities and high mobility. He is able to reset his stamina after each enemy slain.
