We know, we know…it may seem like a drastic move, but believe us, one of the good reasons behind it is you — the community!
As most of you might be aware, League of Ancients’ Official Telegram has been the go-to place for LOAders, be it existing or new followers, to learn more about the game, get their questions answered, mingle with the community, and ultimately keep up to date with the latest developments of League of Ancients. Sounds good, right? Not really, while Telegram is a solid chat app — it’s far from perfect for the LOA community.
The Drawbacks of Telegram
Let’s admit it — Telegram is NOTORIOUSLY clogged with spam content and scams, ranging from Bitcoin ads to NSFW content spam. “How does this affect the League of Ancients community?” you may ask. Most of us are aware that Telegram scam cases have been on the rise, causing a matter of great concern for both senders and receivers. Apart from that, the ‘continuously scrolling’ and single-channel nature of Telegram is not ideal for people who are looking to find information or have in-depth discussions with our moderators without being interrupted by Combot commands being triggered consistently by newcomers to the channel. The solution? A platform that’s designed for more streamlined communication and interactivity — Discord, here we come!
A New Haven for LOAders
Discord, contrary to the literal meaning of its name, is one of the most popular communications platforms where people — especially players — can congregate, meet other players, socialise, and have meaningful discussions. It may seem like a contentious move, given that we have already built up a strong community of 126,985 members (at the time of writing) on Telegram before deciding to hop on the next train to Discord. Trust us, the PERKS that await all of you LOAders on Discord far overshadow what we currently have on Telegram. Game Night — Who doesn’t love games? If you’re not a gamer, you wouldn’t have read up to this point, amirite? Unavailable to Telegram, Discord allows us to host game nights with all of you fellow LOAders. The best part? Winners will receive exciting PRIZES such as the king-of-the-hill style titles and stickers that you can flex — for as long as you can hold on to them, of course! Let’s not forget that the fact that you’ll be able to earn channel points, tokens, and sometimes maybe even LOA capsules too! Ready to put your game face on?
1-on-1 Customer Service and Follow Up — We’re sure most of you are familiar with the relentless Combot spam that hinders seamless conversations on Telegram. Interruptions will become a thing of the past on Discord, because all of your issues will be personally attended to and addressed by our friendly moderators in a 1-on-1 session! Taking our customer service to the next level, there will also be easy-to-use ticketing bot for you to submit your queries and get in touch with our friendly moderators.
Level-up System with Rewards — As the saying goes, no good deed goes unrewarded. Become a good role model for the LOA community and earn not just recognition, but also rewards!
